World Traveler" is rated R for scenes of simulated sex, male and female nudity and occasional use of strong, sexually related profanity, as well as some crude sexual slang.
It's not nearly as good as that one was, but it does have the attractive, unreadable young actor wandering cross-country in search of something that - providing you can even figure out what it is

World Traveler is set up as a kind of paradigm of consciousness ethereally obsessed with Cal's physical beauty.
Perhaps Crudup's outstanding, reserved performance is to blame but the character is unaware of his inner ego despite everyone else's fascination with his killer looks.

The awkward script and the lack of charisma from the lead performers deprive the film of any soul or urgency that it needs.....She is, unquestionably, one of the great screen actors.....But even these two witty performers are unable to compensate for what the picture so sorely lacks in other areas.....watch, a complex offscreen narrative just doesn't thrill.....Whenever she's onscreen, the awkward picture seems momentarily to click, all its gears quickly churning toward the thrills it so wants to deliver... ...
