Tall, dark and seriously handsome he may be, but Tad Hamilton is not quite as perfect as his screen image promotes.
Grace (known for his role in the television series That 70s Show) brings humour to the love triangle, and there are some funny moments when he tries to show off in front of Tad by trying to teach him how to milk a cow and chop wood.

Formulaic, predictable and skimpy on characters, it succeeds, thanks to a lively, fresh cast and a director who sidesteps cornball sweetness.....Duhamel is charming and smooth as buff, toothy, good-intentioned Tad (whose name seems an amalgam of '60s matinee idols Tab Hunter and George Hamilton).....Although Rosalee's sheltered innocence seems to be from 1963's Bye Bye Birdie, a radiant, anxious Bosworth still makes her a lovably spunky heroine..... ... Although Tad is genuine, it doesn't go over well with Rosie, who really starts to fall for him, or the insanely jealous Pete.
Tad Hamilton (Josh Duhamel) is an immensely successful actor, pulling in multimillion dollar paydays and is relentlessly pursued by the paparazzi.

The writer, Victor Levin, has also wisely played down the character of Tad.

The "Win a Date" contest was cooked up by Tad's agent, Richard Levy (Nathan Lane), and his manager, also named Richard Levy (Sean Hayes), to clean up Tad's bad-boy image.
Rosalee wins, much to the chagrin of her best friend and co-worker Pete (Topher Grace), who is deeply, hopelessly -- and secretly -- in love with Rosalee.

From there, the standard romantic comedy hyjinks ensue.....The cast of this film is wonderful.....Even the plot of Win a Date is lightly refreshing.....Duhamel is excellent in his role as the caddish-yet-good-hearted Tad..... ... Full Review

Tad of the title (Josh Duhamel) is a movie star, arrogant....Directed by Robert Luketic (who made the relatively light-touchish Legally Blonde ), the movie doesn't boast brilliant insight regarding this process.... ... Full Review

Grace wins best of show -- offering emotional heft and honoring his stately name by delivering the corny climactic speech with wry dignity.
Naturally Tad is won over by Rosalee's amber-waves-of-grain wholesomeness

Tad Hamilton" has fun with the idea of celebrity invading a small town.
Tad always seems the better choice.
In an early scene, she and Rosalee watch Tad onscreen in a cheesy World War II romance.
