I want to start out by saying that it was overall a good movie. Great acting and great visual but left alot of story or at least some of the best of Johnny Cash out of it. It could have shown... Full review

Although the 2 hours and 15 mins isn't enough time to do Cash's early life justice, this movie is amazing. Both Phoenix and Witherspoon perform greatly, portraying the life of the relentless couple. The film is thoroughly entertaining for both Cash-lovers... Full review

This is a very well made movie. This is as good or better than the Ray Charles movie. Phoenix and Witherspoon make a hot couple. Whitherspoon captures the essence of June Carter Cash and Phoenix emulates Cash so well it felt... Full review

I absolutely loved it. More my dad's music than mine (I was born in 1960-am a rock-n-roller), but tapped my feet the whole way thru. It is funny, I grew up with certain songs of Johnny Cash, and heard about... Full review

Considering the formula junk coming out of Hollywood these days, I was blown away by how good this movie was. The direction was perfect. Using close ups to get us in under the skin of Johnny Cash. And since it... Full review

In a greater movie, it would have been both.
Walk the Line could turn out to be a monster chick flick, because its design is almost mythic: Saintly girl has to wait for country-rock bad boy to purge his demons and settle down.

The movie is less than apologetic to Cash's former wife Vivian and children than one would expect of a post-mortem biopic, although the story seems sincere and honest to be sure.
Bing, bam, boom, Cash lands a deal and ends up on tour with talent now universally accepted as country music lore; Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins.

The musical performances are uniformly well handled and seem faithful to their sources.Walk the line is anticipated to be a big contender for acting and film awards but I dont see that happening.I give it a C+.
This might be because the actor lacks Cashs hulking build, craggy and weatherworn features and gravelly voice.

Phoenix and Witherspoon are very gifted and accomplished actors, obviously, but I will go out on a limb here and say that their performances in this movie are the best that theyve ever given.
There was an *awful* lot of Johnnys story left to tell and I felt a little cheated by the premature cutoff.

Hollywood's latest big-budget biopic, Walk the Line , is also one of Tinseltown's better efforts in that direction, due to outstanding performances by its top players, and Reese Witherspoon Joaquin Phoenix Covering the early childhood and rise to stardom of country legend Johnny Cash, the story doesn't vary much from the standard musician-biography formula: childhood hardship; young-adulthood marked by steely determination and/or blistering talent; success; bouts with demons and drugs; and, eventually, unti ...
