Hoult is a likable enough actor....Although based on his own experiences, the portrait of divorce is familiar from dozens of TV dramas and heavy-handed films....Like a fuzzy memory, Wah-Wah has a pleasant feel....It's not primarily Grant's lack of political consciousness that holds the film back, though..... ... Wah Wah" isn't a perfect film; there's some odd shifts in tone, because it's a very serious story about addiction in families, and also a comic tale about the band of black sheep Brits "aht" in the colonies. At this moment in history it was still teeming with minor white bureaucrats throwing back gin and tonics, shagging each other's spouses silly, and actually saying things like "toodle pip" and "tally ho the fox". ...
