I sat down to watch this movie expecting something great. I didnt get it. Yes the acting was at very good level (what I have to say is that I dont remember Reese Witherspoon disappointing me) and the customes were GREAT.... Full review

If you've seen this movie before, or read the novel, than you shouldn't be disappointed with the plot. I just don't care for the up and downs that Becky Sharp must go through in life. Reese does a wonderful job and,... Full review

I thought Reese did real well with this movie, save her horrible fake English accent. The story didn't flow quite as smoothly as I would like and you never really believe in the path she is on. Not sure how true... Full review

Typically I enjoy "period pieces", but this one was poorly told and dismally acted. The story was told in a choppy and disjointed fashion, Reese Witherspoon never aged in the movie even though approx 19 years passed, you never felt any... Full review

The reason this would make a great date\chick flick movie is because of all the twists and turns that happen throughout the movie. With every scene you get just a little bit closser to the main charictar and you also get... Full review

I loved Vanity Fair! The time period it’s set in is beautiful and so are the costumes. The music that flows throughout the movie is simply gorgeous. I have very seldom seen a period movie with such wonderful music and dance... Full review

However, the audio commentary with Nair as well as the "Welcome to Vanity Fair" and "Women of Vanity Fair" featurettes are worth watching. Fortunately for both of them, it's never too late to overcome stupidity and wrong choices, and the movie comes to a satisfying happy ending. ... Full Review

If it were just the opening sequence of the film that jolted viewers around, it might be possible to get over it, but Vanity Fair continues to feel choppy and poorly paced throughout its running time. There's something about a lavish period film, one with plenty of gorgeous costumes and exquisitely designed sets, that seems to suggest that it ought to be good. ... Full Review

Splashing the costumes and sets with reams of colour, Nair spices her 19th-century drama with a fresh, modern tang until she gets carried away. Just wait for the ridiculous Bollywood musical set-piece that sees Witherspoon belly-dancing like some failed Moulin Rouge auditionee. ... Full Review
