"Unforgiven" obviously caught my attention with the cast. Eastwood,Freeman,Hackman. Also you know it's a quality western when Eastwood's name is somewhere in the cast or crew. As I watched I couldn't help but keep wondering when William(Eastwood) was going to go... Full review

This is quite possibly the worst Clint movie ever made. It is boring, dull, and dirty. When I watched it, I expected it to get better and turn into something like the good, the bad, and the ugly, but that never... Full review

Arguably the Western that ended all westerns, Clint Eastwoods 1992 masterpiece won four Oscars in 1992 including Best Picture, Best Director for Eastwood, and Best Supporting Actor for Hackman - who had to be talked into the role by Eastwood. This isnt just Eastwoods crowning achievement in his illustrious 40 year career, but a searing universal portrait of how good and evil are just a hair trigger apart. ... Full Review

Anyone who still refuses to believe that Eastwood has matured into one of our finest filmmakers can take "Unforgiven" for the living proof which the notoriously reticent Eastwood would never offer up in his own behalf. There is nothing gratuitous or imitative about "Unforgiven," but the aesthetic choices -- pictorially, thematically and psychologically -- are definitively the work of a single vision. ... Violence is not glorified in any way, and even the anti-hero (Clint Eastwood) is not portrayed as a heroic figure, instead he is a retired former gunslinger (who was reformed after marriage), and is now supporting 2 children (his wife has died) by running a pig farm and gets back to being an active gunslinger because he needs the money. ... The last great cowboy movie ('Brokeback ain't so much about gun-slingin') is Clint Eastwood's finest cinematic achievement both as a director and actor. 'Unforgiven' is a throwback to the classic Westerns of the past, when released, it represented a genre that was very much dying, revived only briefly by Dances with Wolves, which won many Oscars, but was distinctly modern in its style and structure, an epic set in the days of the West when much of it was yet unsettled, no... ...
