The two share a torrid, though soft-focused, interspecies love scene.
This incarnation would never be considered inventive - the story is simple, bordering on silly - and some fight scenes blur into each other.

He's referenced in the film (Derek Jacobi played him in the original "Underworld") and there are other efforts to tie the film into the "Underworld" continuum, including a cameo in the finale.
That cast makes it worth watching this prequel to the movies that showed the world how good Kate Beckinsale looks in leather.

The film would all be a complete bore if it weren't for the odd sparks of wit, and the sparks set off by Sheen and B-picture queen Mitra.

ONE AND A HALF STARS It is not necessary to have seen the first two "Underworld" films to fully enjoy the third.
Long after they actually need the money, they'll sign on for a kiddie film or a horror flick simply for the fun.
