Freeman's problems are nothing compared to Hackman who starts the film with the worst toupee you've ever seen.
As discrepancies in his testimony arise and details of his troubled marriage to Chantal (Monica Bellucci) are uncovered, the interrogator and the accused engage in a cat and mouse game of truth and deception.

But this is Hackman's show, and his creation of a psychologically real character who's suffering huge inner complications is 10 times as good as anything Under Suspicion deserves.
He pulls audience sympathy this way and that, making his character paranoid about his wealth and status, and bitter about the gulf in age between him and his wife.
