This is one of those movies where every character it seems has either been molested at some point in their lives or is a molester. Pretty far-fetched and contrived to be enjoyed. Why can't the film-maker just tell a story rather... Full review

The Woodsman was an overall good movie. Kept you interested throughout and Kevin Bacon gives an incredible and believable performance. When you usually think of these kind of people, most peoples' first reaction is that they must be insane and sick... Full review

and I think it is a misinterpretation to say that this film glorifies the abusers. I think what this film does is take the viewer into the mind of an addict/abuser and painfully watch his interactions with others hoping he will... Full review

As Walter, a factory worker just released from prison after serving 12 years for sex with a minor, Bacon conveys both self-loathing and troubling passion with an admirable selflessness and lack of vanity.
It's a near-great performance, and Bacon is backed by a first-rate cast, including wife Kyra Sedgwick as his fellow factory worker and eventual lover Vickie, Benjamin Bratt as volatile brother-in-law Carlos and rappers Mos Def and Eve as nosey cop Sgt. Lucas and jealous co-worker Mary-Kay.
