Excellent independent movie whose rare portrayal of a Japanese-American family's struggles hasn't yet surfaced in mainstream media. A couple of plot lines seemed under-developed, but overall it was a beautiful story about tradition, suppressed feelings, and true love after 70.... Full review

By the end of the film, though, Nobu has mellowed considerably and patches things up. Written by Philip Kan Gotanda, the film, which Uno first saw as a play in a workshop performance in a Los Angeles theater, sticks closely by the sociological details of the Japanese and their community, but we can't help wanting something to stir us, something that's not merely accurate and well observed, but that galvanizes us. ...
