This movie is one of my favorites of all time. The movie centers around the 70s and Sofia Copolla tells the story of five sisters lives after one kills themselves. Watching this movie I was shocked how I took a liking... Full review
Another bad movie by an over-hyped director

Sofia Copolla strikes again. Another boring movie. This movie is so vague. It feels like a series of inconsequential blips that leaves you feeling as if you've watched a preview of a movie instead of the actual movie. The story is... Full review

Growing up as a Catholic mid-westerner--with two parents who's teen security strategy was: fear everything you don't know anything about; and shut out the world--I can certainly relate to the story. But this movie was not able to tell it convincingly.... Full review

Although both the film and novel did a great job on the story and theme, I still failed to see why anyone should care about five weird sisters who became recluses instead of waiting out a bad part in their lives.... Full review

This was an excellent movie. I was simply taken away. Some people didn't exactley get the message of it. Clearly these girls had over protective parents and what that led to was stated at the end of the movie. They weren't... Full review

She also has the services of a superb cast. Sofia Coppola knows and is perfectly attuned to the material, gliding beneath the surface of suburban ordinariness to reveal the extraordinary and investigate the unfathomable. ... Full Review

Kirsten Dunst is fantastic as the free-spirited and sexy Lux....In addition to the fine directing, the movie is very well cast.....One brilliant scene exemplifying this conceit occurs near the beginning of the film.....while her love interest in the story, Trip Fontaine, is portrayed with panache by Josh Harnett (despite a really bad period wig).....James Woods brilliantly captures Mr. Lisbon, the bumbling dad and henpecked husband..... ... If you have experienced such a thing yourself, maybe you can relate to the film's beautiful and odd moments. Forget the agents, forget that the Coppola was so very bad in that needless "Godfather" sequel, read the script and because it is good, make the movie. ... Full Review

The Virgin Suicides is an effective film because it doesn't pull at heart strings. The trick to this film is to enjoy the emotional journey of the character study even though you know that the main characters will die. ... Full Review
