I figured another film from David Wain would be as funny as Wet Hot, and the idea of watching a comedy about the Ten Commandments seemed more enjoyable than going to synagogue.
Even when Rudd has to deliver something truly bizarre and unbelievable he remains so calm and funny.

The Ten" won't disappoint.....instead I got a movie that had a handful of ridiculously deluding moments..... ... Full Review

The Ten is funny.
This little conceit drives the action, and builds to a satisfyingly funny conclusion (which makes the most random reference to Diane Weist that has ever been made, ever).

The movie is fun to watch (though it hardly begs for a second viewing) and apparently fun to make, judging by the sprawling, game cast.
but despite all of the sight gags, recurring characters, amusing references (at least one sketch ending mimics Woody Allen, while another goes for left-field Shakespeare), and genuine chuckles it elicits, its more exercise than tour de force.

The Ten' violates the only comedy commandment:....The Ten starts badly, with a stunningly un-amusing "connecting" story played on a bare stage between Paul Rudd, who introduces each segment....The object here is to see how crude the film can be in dealing with the commandments.....Winona Ryder doesn't embarrass herself in that one.....But her humiliating "Thou shalt not steal" bit, involving fairly graphic sex with a ventriloquist dummy, is pretty humiliating..... ... On paper, after all, "The Ten" does look awfully promising.
A collection of short sketches (very) loosely inspired by the Ten Commandments, it was made by "The State's" David Wain, who also brought us "Wet Hot American Summer.
