The atmosphere of The Specialist is peculiar.
If I were in a kind mood, I might say that The Specialist attempts to be an atmospheric, dramatic thriller.

Say it till you're blue in the face, and it still won't change the fact that "The Specialist" is obnoxious, narcissistic tripe.
The filmmakers, who include director Luis Llosa, don't seem to care about it, and certainly we don't, so why don't we just skip it.

Nice, but maybe they should start with the filmmakers, who have put them into a plot where Stone wants to kill some characters for one reason and others for another, and is simultaneously the friend and enemy of the movie's hero.
Some of the music is done with lonely brass instruments, like in a noir, and some of it is breathless percussion, like in a thriller.
