In honor of their 50th anniversary, The Smurfs is the latest early-80's family favorite to get the big screen treatment.
The Smurfs will feature voice talents John Lithgow (presumably as Gargamel) and Julia Sweeney (we're thinking Smurfette).

The Smurfs is definitely a smurfy DVD and both the adult and kid Smurfs can appreciate its blueness and simplicity.

Now comes producer Jordan Kerner with a handful of info that makes me think, Hmm this might not be such a rotten idea after all.
It's a comic version, but still very heartfelt, version of Lord of the Rings - though not literally Lord of the Rings, but an epic story like that.
