To watch how Andy gently (but subtly) has Red believing in hope by the end of the film is worth the price of admission itself, and this film is a real experience.
It helps that many of the characters are perfect in their cast roles, they deliver the dialogue with a familiarity that we've all grown to enjoy through the years.

Darabont uniquely blends humor and violence, sweetness and brutality, in what may be the best "feel-good" movie of the last twenty years.

I started writing a short history for each of the Top 100 films on the American Film Institutes list....though, The Shawshank Redemption has found endless support in the world of DVD sales and television airing.....it tends to pander towards the classics with films that were extremely important....The film's run time, at nearly 2 and a half hours is well worth the wait just for those final 10 minutes..... ...
