Again Nicholson teams up with director Bob Rafelson and while this isn't a classic like Five Easy Pieces or it doesn't even compare to other works of Jack, yet still this film has enough suspense and drama that's built up... Full review

'The Postman always rings twice' can qualify as a very under-rated movie. Despite its flaws, it's one of those movies which have touched my heart. The complex relationship between the two leading characters is one of the most intriguing relationships... Full review

I once said in another review I made that movie re-makes are a tricky thing. In the case of this remake, the trick was far from magical. In fact, from the get go and throughout the entire film,I knew exactly what was... Full review
I say that one-line statement having yet to read James M. Cain's original (short) book, or the 1946 film starring John Garfield and Lana Turner. So I have now seen the Postman Always Rings Twice directed by Bob Rafelson and... Full review

Immensely watchable, this remake of the 1940s classic is sexed up by writer David Mamet and director Bob Rafelson. Jack Nicholson is a drifter who ingratiates himself into the lives of roadside diner/gas station owner John Colicos and his impossibly... Full review

A remake of the 1946 film, this version features Jack Nicholson and Jessica Lange, with a momentous white hot chemistry that can't possibly sustain itself but affords a memorable scene in the restaurant kitchen about ten minutes into the film... Full review

Twice is nice. Hollywood had to try twice to get this story right. Lana Turner was beautiful in the 1946 version, but Jessica Lange was something to kill for opposite Jack Nicholson.Such raw sensuality would easily persuade a man to... Full review

This remake of the 1946 film which starred Lana Turner and John Garfield is significantly better than its reputation. The script, adapted from James M. Cain's first novel, is by the award-winning playwright David Mamet, while the interesting and focused... Full review

Visconti's film is famously an unauthorized adaptation, and came between the French version and Garnett's. That many of the early neo-realist films have lasted is testimony to the staying power of film as an art form rather than the meaning of the neo-realist films themselves. ... Full Review

Not a great movie, perhaps, and maybe not the absolute best movie in the noir genre, but a good and absorbing movie, nevertheless.....The 1.33:1 ratio, black-and-white picture is transferred from what appears to have been very good film stock, the image clean and free of most age marks.....Part sultry romance, part mystery thriller, the movie continues to keep audiences intrigued with its edgy character relationships and unforeseen tensions.....The overall aspect of the picture is slightly gritty in the man ... THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE is an absolutely superb mounting of a hollow and disappointing production. It shows a technical mastery of filmmaking, and we are dazzled by the performances, the atmosphere, the mood of mounting violence. ... Full Review
