I didn't cringe once during Pink Panther 2 .....Pink Panther 2 is devoid of substance as a film, succeeding neither as a mystery nor a slapstick farce.....Although the most basic elements of the previous film are referenced they are not required viewing to understand or rather suffer through the sequel.....if it's nothing special, picture and sound being completely serviceable but not outstanding.....he neglects the rest of the film, which ultimately falls victim to a meager plot and an acute lack of jokes. ... One of The Pink Panther 2's sole highlights is the talented cast....persuade younger viewers to give the classic films a first look.....The bonus features in this single-disc package are few and even less amusing than the mostly unfunny film.....Perhaps it could remind older viewers of Sellers' best moments....The gag reel is rather bland for something designed to showcase how much fun the cast was having during the production..... ... If you enjoyed the original "Pink Panther," there's no reason you wouldn't like what Martin has cooked up for the sequel.....I must admit that on the grand scale of home entertainment torment, "Panther 2" is actually a slightly superior film than its forefather.....Of course, if you embraced the 2006 film in a distinctly yawn-inducing way, you've already seen the follow-up.....Granted, it shouldn't be a complete shock to find the actor (who takes a co-scripting credit) forgoing a chance to challenge himself ... If you really, really loved Martin's first Panther film, you might consider renting this....What's most disheartening about the movie's lack of inspiration is....Clouseau's exploits would get more and more elaborate as the series continued, but the second Panther film (the first, really) remains the best.....that doesn't excuse lazy writing.....I can't imagine the plot was the compelling factor for Andy Garcia, Alfred Molina, or an uncredited Jeremy Irons..... ... I suspect Martin also wants to connect himself to the great traditions of physical comedy, going back to the silent comedians.....Even John Cleese, as the venal and scheming Chief Inspector Dreyfus, looks dull in comparison.....Again, he's the best thing about a pretty ordinary movie....Martin's timing is perfect, and a few of the early sequences are lovely -.... ... Martin, who co-wrote the screenplay, is a loveable and talented comic actor....The Pink Panther 2 is a run-of-the-mill Hollywood comedy from a town that's run out of ideas.....Set in Paris and Rome, the paint-by-numbers tale once again revolves around the theft of the priceless Pink Panther diamond.....one scene involving Clouseau dressed as the Pope is borderline hysterical.....With a slick opening sequence, the memorable Henry Mancini theme, and a hilarious early scene from John Cleese, there's the sense. ...
