No, the central problem is that the film, for all its gothic iconography and moody lighting, is a silly bore. the film evokes the Book of Revelation to justify its story of the Antichrist....the film's biggest failing....The technical aspects of the film are fine....His decapitation scene, handled very differently from the original, is still quite a shock....As for little Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick, he scowls into the camera just fine.... ... This is not saying that "The Omen" is a bad film.....It is a good looking film and well crafted.....The film is well acted, well shot, but lacks any spunk....The Omen" is still not a perfect looking release with some minor flaws.....I hate to call "The Omen" dull.... ... Full Review

In the end, however, a nice looking film with good performances that tells the same story as an older nice looking film with even better performances (and a much more memorable score! Julia Stiles does quite well, and although she looks a little young for the role she's pretty good in those scenes where she's required to really act and portray some heavy emotion. ... Full Review
