There's something deeply disturbing about the 'show biz' politics and intrigues that managed to exile such a well made film to the 'dollar theaters'. On the other hand, horror purists of all calibre will probably get a kick out of seeing... Read more at imdb.com

Based on a recommendation from the Podcouch Film podcast (and an unhealthy obsession with Clive Barker) I drove quite a ways to see this film. Strange that they're the only ones reviewing this movie; I mean, even metacritic hasn't assigned it... Read more at imdb.com

Clive Barker's more sanguinary inclinations are paid tribute here through a hulking golem, a malevolent meat merchant in his dapper best, named Mahogany (Vinnie Jones) who smashes, eviscerates and cleaves through unsuspecting commuters on the last train home. Adapted from Barker's... Read more at imdb.com

Wow, how bad can it get. This was seriously bad. Not in terms of the gore - which was mainly laughable CGI - but in acting, atmosphere and direction. The story was dreadful - the character arc of the main lead... Read more at imdb.com

I love Clive Barker and his mad visions, and I sure did love this movie too. It isn't haunting horror like the Shining or Ringu, but it is nice little slaughterfest. Some of you will not like the CGI-gore but it... Read more at imdb.com

On the one hand, I think that something like 90% or more of this is fantastic, some of the best recent horror filmmaking you will see.
it had been an excellent serial killer movie, and although the ending (which, again, I am told is true to the source material) isn't bad at all, it's the sort of thing I tend to pick at, even though I know that providing enough details to satisfy me would completely derail the movie.

THE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN doesnt display ravening ambition, which is another way of saying its blessedly unpretentious, but it is everything one could reasonably want from a Clive Barker adaptation.
Leslie Bibb is fine as Leons understandably concerned girlfriend and Roger Bart adds some bright humor to the proceedings as their cosmopolitan pal.

The Midnight Meat Train may not be grade-A prime, but it ain't chopped liver either.
Jones, in a near-wordless performance, is effectively frightening as the butchering golem, and the film's action in the subway and its slaughterhouse set-piece are striking.

The Midnight Meat Train is perhaps more effective as a literary jab to the gut, not a feature-length piece of repetition.
Most of the film remains in laughable states of melodrama and anemic genital metaphor, while the scares are goosed a little too severely by computer assistance.
