The story is excellent, have to say is one of the best I've seen in years. However, the total effect of the movie isn't so impressive, I would say it may be a directing problem. The music does not form enough... Full review

The best thing about The Love Letter is Kate Capshaw who effortlessly generates sympathy and laughs as the lonely bookseller suddenly surrounded by suitors.
Still, the performances of all actors are strong, with Capshaw and Selleck giving poignant portrayals in the film's central relationship.

In fact, at a little more than 80 minutes, "The Love Letter" could be the dullest film of its length we'll see all year.
Not to say that "The Love Letter" is bad, but this unsuccessful adaptation of Cathleen Schine's best-selling farcical novel is without any real laughs, which is lethal since it's supposed to be a comedy.
