This is not an "action" movie. While it culminates in a bank heist, the real story is the characters, their lives, and the creepy and suspenseful way the bad guys intertwine themselves into the lives of former high school star Chris... Full review

As a noir crime film, The Lookout challenges the viewer at a primal level by filtering the story through the eyes and voice of a cerebrally-damaged young man. We are introduced to Chris after sustaining head injuries from a car crash requires him to having to make a list of everything he needs to do on a daily basis. He even goes to a therapy class to help him train to make lists of his activities and take his medication. These lists serve as title cards for the film as we see Chris's handwriting introducing another section of the narrative, based on a slowly developing mental grasp of his world. These connective scenes are usually shot with the camera setup in a high angle showing Chris alone in bed, a spec of humanity in the world.
