I thought this movie would be boring and soap opera-ish when my mom told me about it, but she was right:I loved it. I loved the flashbacks each character had. It was so sad, I almost cried at some parts.... Full review

as a chinese immigrant, i feel this movie has nothing to do with chinese culture. Everything relates to Chinese curlture in this movie is created by Tan's sterotype imagination.... Full review

What I love about this story is the generational relationships of grandmother, mother and daughter and family relations i.e. sisters, cousins, in-laws is what is it's about. I was touched by the wisdom of the elders and how relationships were mother/daughter... Full review
