Despite the familiarity of that plot, nothing about ``The Hudsucker Proxy'' is predictable.

Another ultra-stylized movie-about-movies by the Cannes-winning Coen Brothers, "Hudsucker" is clever but cold, a heartless mechanical gizmo.
