Unfortunately, the film's lack of its own sense of pace means that the film fails to pull off some of its screenplay's rather impressive attempts at humor.
Characters quickly and gracelessly join the plot's main thrust, moving hither and thither, leaving faint impressions, seeming to exist only to provide jokes and enforce stereotypes.

Hes neither funny nor charming and, for better or worse, this movie doesnt rely on much else.
His 1980s' Scott Baio hair, false confidence and awkward line delivery just put him farther away from the better Dawson in their scenes together.
