perfect balance between humor and drama that made his earlier films so effective....a gloriously unwieldy comedy of manners submerged in the minutiae of Anderson's madcap creativity.....It's not hard to like any movie that uses the Beach Boys' music....As Hollywood's foremost purveyor of hipster drama, his pedigree as a reliable selector of appropriately wistful, poignant and all-around unforgettable songs is virtually unrivaled....With only one viewing under my belt thus far, it's hard to do much more than ... But the pride of seeing your name roll by in the credits of a future classic film can last a whole lot longer.....And Meryl Streep , a woman who's earned the right to not have to take any crap from any director, didn't report any problems....It takes a unique brain and a unique way of looking at the world to create a truly unique film.....You have to be a little crazy to be a great director....The annoyance of putting up with an eccentric director on set (or even via email from a Paris hotel) lasts a few mo ... thanks to a clever script and charming voice performances this entertaining film has just the right amount of animal magic.....Making the characters American is a confusing choice for such an English story, but in star-obsessed Hollywood having recognisable voices was perhaps inevitable.....Anderson's script is very funny....she delivers a solid performance for such a slight supporting role.....Brit actor Michael Gambon (Dumbledore to you 'Harry Potter' fans) is great as Bean, turning his normally soft tone ... The supporting cast, effective....As deliciously dry as Gambon's villain is, the bad guys are of less concern to Anderson than they were to Dahl.....Their "Fox" script softens the dysfunctional edges without sugarcoating the director's ideas about the nuclear family and conflicted father figures.....if not indelible, includes Anderson regulars Bill Murray as attorney Badger, Willem Dafoe as security guard Rat and Owen Wilson as Ash's discouragement-dispensing coach.....Although sometimes too sly for its own ...
