the film tends to fall victim to the very eccentricities that make Anderson unique.....only seems peculiar because Schwartzman is fully clad....Schwartzman, for example, loves to trek around far-flung lands devoid of shoes and the members of this tripod are persistently popping prescription drugs -....With his aloof character panache and colorful imagery, Wes Anderson is one of those directors you either love dearly or loathe dreadfully..... ... He may or may not be a great actor....There are some faintly amusing moments....Owen Wilson was not funny as a presumptuous, bossy older brother;....if not outstanding by Owen Wilson, Jason Schwartzman (also one of the screenwroters along with Roman Coppola), Adrien Brody as three brothers on a mission to strengthen their bond with hopes.... ... His cameo appearance here suggests he's not only a good luck charm, the way the Pixar folks have used John Ratzenberger, but a visual allusion to Murray's "Lost in Translation. A third thing worth mentioning--though it's not necessarily a negative--is that the hairstyles and yellow-orange tint that the film has, combined with a Bollywood soundtrack, really evokes the Seventies. ...
