90's movies are tha bomb! Especially ones as shockingly violent, funny, disturbing, and original as this. This edgy multi-genre crime movie has more *gasp* moments in it than one could possibly imagine. Definitly a must see for people who would like... Full review

This movie was suprisingly better than I thought. I thought the whole story was going to be based on the infamous twist in this movie (not really hard to figure out). The story is pretty complicated so I won't elaborate but... Full review

I can't believe that anyone in their right mind could see anything good in this movie. The movie leaves me with a bad feeling about how some people could be so screwed up. Bad morals, bad storyline, bad subject. You can't... Full review

I think this film is like a 'right of passage' or something. I saw it on video and found myself wondering if the actor/actress(?) who played a transexual/transvestite(?) in the film was really 'that', ot just 'acting'. I suppose I will... Full review

Backing them up is Miranda Richardson at her most icily erotic, and Jaye Davidson seductively ambiguous as the object of desire. Though Whitakers accent remains more Texas than Tottenham, theres a warmth to his performance that makes Reas loss of faith wholly convincing. ... Full Review

Having not seen the movie in a few years, and already knowing how it was going to end, I wasn't sure how well it would hold up for a repeat, but thankfully, my fears were put to rest and The Crying Game remains a great movie. Yeah, I know that The Crying Game has been spoofed to the point where it almost makes the twist ending seem comical, but the first time I saw this movie it took me completely by surprise. ... Let's just say the ending has some surprises in store for everyone involved--the crooks, the police, and the audience. The newer film's success can be attributed to several factors, in increasing order of importance: A resourceful and absorbing script; the location shooting on the south coast of France and Monaco; the grittily realistic, periodically flashy direction of Mr. Jordan; and the brilliant performance of its star, Nick Nolte, and the supporting cast. ... Despite certain reservations, however, it must be said that Neil Jordan's "The Crying Game" is a remarkable film. In the lead role, Rea is subtly good, allowing his charm to creep up on the audience gradually, and Davidson, who has never acted before, is startling, to say the least. ... Full Review

And "The Crying Game" is his boldest, richest work yet. From the performances by Rea, Davidson and Whitaker, to Jordan's endlessly original script, to Anne Dudley's melancholy score, and Lyle Lovett's closing rendition of "Stand by Your Man," "The Crying Game" enthralls and amazes us. ...
