With a strong direction, cast, cinematographer and (most) of the script, THE BROKEN is thus far the best film I've seen at Sundance.....If the finale wasn't so (unfortunately) forced this could have been the film to beat....Negating that the end of the movie is terrible, THE BROKEN is truly phenomenal in every aspect.....Sean Ellis is an extremely talented director who I believe will be a big name one of these days.....some of the most magnificent moments are the way he lights up the characters eyes in dark ... That aside, for shear spooky value and some interesting shots and design, The Broken is a film worth checking out and reflecting on.
A striking-looking Headey exudes both confidence and an inner strength, whilst possessing an endearing vulnerability, which is emphasised by her change in costume throughout the film.

Worse, the film never bothers to offer any explanation for what is happening;....THE BROKEN more frustrating than a film....the script justifies the repetition....Unfortunately, too many objective scenes (in which her character does not appear) confirm....In the grand tradition of modestly budgeted features, the editing contrives to show us this footage over and over (gotta get your money's worth out of such a big piece of the budget), but the great thing is.... ...
