I have to say, that this is by far the most inspirational film I've seen to date. To feel the emotion, to care about the cause, to loath the oppression. Just the idea, that few can make a difference in this... Full review
A smart and witty story about love and friendship ON A BOAT!

Dude, I went into this only caring that it was starring Philip Seymour (?) Hoffman, and pretty much had little expectations as long as the movie was entertaining- well it was. The very well-scripted (all-star casted) characters created as organic a... Full review

I saw it twice on my overseas trip to Egypt and twice on my way back and loved every minute of it. I mimed the songs (passengers on the plane would not have appreciated me belting out Rolling Stones and Donovan:))... Full review

Although the film received its fair share of criticism for its historical inaccuracies and feeble plot, in my view, the film does exactly what its authors set out to achieve and - not only in terms of the soundtrack - rock... Full review

This film is about a pirate rock radio station in British North Sea in the 1960's. I have watched several movies about British music history, and I have enjoyed none of them. So it was a pleasant surprise when I watched... Full review
If you think of "Four weddings and a Funeral" or "Notting Hill", you will be a little disappointed, being here the overall tone not so brilliant, dialogues not so sparkling, however, the both humorous and moving atmosphere of Richard Curtis's comedies... Full review

Anyone looking for a plot or decent script should write their own. I saw this under the title "Good Morning England" in Paris last night and it reminded me somewhat of "Across the Universe" another film based on its fabulous sound... Full review
'The boat that rocked' is your average English comedy. Its highly original setting, on a 1966-clandestine Sixties' pirate-radio ship, surely warms the heart of everyone around at the time -- listening in when you were supposed to sleep or to do... Full review

I have been wanting to see this movie since I saw the trailer for the very first time. Today I finally got the opportunity. The plot sounded interesting and I was hoping to see a comedy that wasn't as predictable and... Full review

Richard Curtis' first 'non romantic comedy film' is really another romantic comedy film- it's just that the romantic bit gets swamped within 20 other sub-plots so you try and not notice. The Boat That Rocked sees Carl ( Tom Surridge )... Full review

Pirate Radio looks seductive.....For all the talent attached to it, Pirate Radio is nowhere near as good as it should be.....It's famous for being smart, sharp and nuanced-unlike Yank humour, which is supposed to be dumb, crude and obvious.....It's got a dynamite cast-featuring Billy Nighy, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Kenneth Branagh, Emma Thompson, Rhys Ifans and Rhys Darby ( Flight of the Concords )-you gotta love an ensemble with two Rhys's.....But the movie's slick style completely undermines the ethos of ... At the risk of sounding a blackguard, I feel the need to convey how massively "Pirate Radio" failed to shiver me timbers.....if he'd made "Pirate Radio" four or five hours it would be worth climbing aboard.....Only slightly more interesting are the DJs' comely wenches, well represented by "Mad Men's" January Jones and the beguiling Talulah Riley.....And for that I blame Richard Curtis, the commander of this armada of record-spinners bearing names like The Count, The Dawn Treader and Dr. Dave DJ..... ... Had the entire Carl support system been jettisoned in favor of a more "warts and all" look at these guys, Pirate Radio would have been so much better.....Winning, witty, and wearing out its welcome toward the end, Pirate Radio is either a noble failure or the slightest of successes.....all the amazing music coming out of the UK during that time period, most in the BBC thought the pop charts littered with junk.....an abundance of keen individual moments, and you've got a movie that needed a narrower focus to ... again, is its amazing soundtrack.....This film is chock full of great actors having fun with a story that does not take itself seriously at all.....I absolutely love the music of this decade and this film has loads of it..... ... Full Review

The sound track of golden oldies of the era is produced to spotless perfection....That is the radio that plays all those nasty songs that mention spending the night together and other such evil acts.....accompanied by some of the most truly righteous choreography to be seen in any pop musical.....The main protagonist is Philip Seymour Hoffman (Oscar win for "Capote" and nominations for "Charlie Wilson's War" and "Doubt") who rivals Robin Williams wonderful performance of twenty years back in "Good Morning V ...
