Hey, I didn't say the film was great.
But it's got plenty of little moments and some surprisingly good performances, not just from the always-reliable Brewster but also from the unknown actors in the group.

As I type about these characters, I realize that it doesn't sound like a particularly funny film, but that's the beauty of The Big Bad Swim .
It finds the inherent comedy within the mundane
