My expectations going into this movie were high: I generally like Di Caprio's work, Scorsese is usually good, and the reviews were not bad (b+ from the critics). But from the moment that the lights first hit the screen in the... Full review

I wasn't a big De Caprio fan but he did a fine job IMO, carrying the movie through it's overextravagant story too large for one two hour time slot. Scenes with Errol Flynn among others could have been pared to focus... Full review

Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett and Martin Scorsese have done an outstanding job of bringing to life one of the most creative, eccentric, and colorful characters of the 20th century - Howard Hughes. The movie is colorful, provacative, and interesting throughout, as... Full review

it tries to be all sophisticated and deep but it ends up being 3 hours of a meandering plotline with puppet characters whom you do not care about. As for the visual effects, which the director is supposedly famous for, they... Full review

This flim used God's name in vain every 2 to three minutes. The film also was very boring. The storyline behind it was boring. Decaprio's character did not say many encouring things. He teared his workers down all the time with... Full review

I've been waiting for this kind of movie for a good part of my life. A movie where, unlike all others, Leonardo DiCaprio dies a good acting job. He truly does in this amazing film. In fact, most everything about this... Full review

I was prejudice..didn't think he was right for the role..however DiCaprio was great as Hughes. All the other supporting roles were well done. I would have rather seen more of Dietrich and less of Hepburn. I felt that relationship was dragged... Full review

This is one of the year's best films.....One of the more remarkable things about Martin Scorsese 's altogether remarkable biopic " The Aviator " is....on this level "The Aviator" does even better than most of Hughes's own movies (not including "Scarface" [1932], which he had the good sense to let Howard Hawks direct).....Equal parts dark and dazzling, " The Aviator " is the prototype of an Oscar winner for best picture of the year.....John Logan's witty yet shallow script suggests we'll learn something sign ... The Aviator," one of Scorsese's finest, is the best movie we have right now, because it follows its anti-hero so brilliantly on his flight into dreams. The other cast members all play with that knifelike accuracy and zest we expect in a Scorsese movie, with a grand movie dream world around them and a great stream of golden oldies providing the aural setting. ... Every aspect of the production is impeccable, from the way it was filmed to simulate the early Technicolor process of the 1920's and later the more advanced three strip process, to the set designs and the special effects this is one well made film. A beautiful and technically masterful film, the nearly three hour long biography seems to fly by. ... Full Review
