Review from imdb
Ant theme should be retired.
Ant theme should be retired.
I love CG and am not tired of it yet. To me, the medium of the story is not as important as the quality of the plot, and in The Ant Bully, the story was just too overdone to be satisfying. The graphics and sounds were nice, and it's a shame they were not paired with a more unique storyline.
Pros: The voices were expressive, and there's a different take on ants in this movie than in the previous ones. These follow the laws of nature in some respects but don't in others, so...more

Starring Zach Tyler, Julia Roberts, Nicolas Cage, Paul Giamiatti, Meryl Streep. Directed by John A. Davis. Rated PG. "How was I supposed to know ants had feelings? Or families? Pixar's sprawling Cars may be one of the summer's biggest hits, but to the shock of many, the animation giant has been upstaged on the entertainment front -- first by the remarkable Monster House and now by the more modest but very funny and diverting The Ant Bully. The anthropomorphizing insects gag is so 1998 (when Antz and A Bug's Life both hit the screens), but The Ant Bully finds a...more

The ants bustling through the colony refer to Lucas (Zach Tyler) as "The Destroyer." The nickname is well-deserved. Because he is picked on by the neighborhood bully, the pint-sized Lucas vents his frustrations on someone (or something) quite below his own stature – the insects that crawl beneath his feet. Well, the ants have had enough of Lucas' sweeping kicks to their hill. They've grown tired of his garden hose flooding every chamber of their elaborate home. And for once, they have a plan. Zoc (Nicolas Cage), the colony's kooky chemist, has perfected a potion that will shrink Lucas down ...more

Bole To: A film with anty-violence message! STORY: 10 yr. old Lucas is a lonely boy who enjoys destroying ant-hills in his front yard (yes, straight to the story of the film). He doesn't know that there exists a whole world in that pile of mud complete with relations, responsibilities and emotions. Wizard Ant Zoc (Nicolas Cage) with his magic potion shrinks Lucas to the size of an ant. Lucas is taken through the incredible landscape of the Ant Hill for prosecution in front of the Queen Ant (voiced perfectly by Meryl Streep.) Ant Zocs girlfriend-Nurse Ant Hova (Julia Roberts) volunteers to...more

At first glance, The Ant Bully might look like a remake or a sequel to Antz. Not so. This story (based on the 1999 book by John Nickle and put together by DNA Productions - the makers of Jimmy Neutron) has built its own anthill and holds its own. Nickle, along with writer/director John A. Davis tell the story of young Lucas Nickle (a.k.a. Peanut the Destroyer), a small boy who is constantly picked on by the local neighborhood bully and his gang of hanger-ons. To take out his frustration he resorts to proving his superiority by using various methods to...more
