I could barely sit through the length of the film, it was so boring. Way too much dialogue coupled with a slow-moving plot is its downfall. Basically, you can skip the first hour of this film and not miss anything important.... Full review

This film pulls back the curtain to reveal a glimpse of what `celebrity' means when the cameras aren't rolling and the stage is dark. What begins as a celebration of sorts becomes a character study that examines the lifestyle of... Full review
A wonderful ensemble piece starring many fine actors, The Anniversary Party delves deep into the ties that bind us together. But the second act is an unflinching look at how we tear ourselves apart. While it has some flaws, I... Full review

The Anniversary Party" is rated R for frequent use of strong profanity, scenes depicting drug use (marijuana and ecstacy), female nudity, use of crude sexual slang terms and some vulgar sex talk, and a brief scene of simulated sex. In fact, things have gotten so bad that sometimes you have to wonder why filmmakers don't just set up their camera in a room and simply turn cast members loose. ... Full Review

Very Altmanesque in its free-flowing treatment of the characters and story, "The Anniversary Party" is alternately so adept, so funny, and so powerful that it manages to stand on its own as a true original. The Anniversary Party," written and directed by actors Alan Cumming and Jennifer Jason Leigh, is a striking triumph--an incisive, thought-provoking look at the questionable longevity of a marriage, set at their sixth-year wedding anniversary, following a year-long separation. ...
