Lacking in style
Nov 20, 2007
danielcharchuk - yahoo.com
It's got some interesting ethical and scientific questions, and it's kinda funny at times, but it's really got no style of its own and the action scenes aren't that thrilling. It's basically Total Recall minus Verhoeven, which means more than one... Full review

I don't often take the time to post full comments, but I felt with a 5.8 this movie was massively underrated, and I think I know why.First of all the title is not Shakespeare, it's funny and doesn't worry too... Full review

I like Arnold as an actor as much as the next person, but I just can't handle all that violence added with clonning!. not highly reccomendable. Although as far as the acting it's fairly good, dough, the story line, wasn't it.... Full review

I liked this movie for its original story idea. I also liked many of the futuristic gadgets. Tony Goldwyn made an excellent bad guy, he was also good in Ghost. While this wasn't the best movie I have ever seen, it... Full review

But unlike the smart, futuristic satire of, say, RoboCop, the film doesnt match its ambitions with an intelligent script. Its tempting to imagine that The 6th Day began as a Hollywood executives dream. ... Full Review

Director Roger Spottiswoode ensures that the film looks good and that it moves along nicely enough but the film winds up as little more than a moderately entertaining if uninspired time killer. The film wants to be intelligent with it's pokes and prods at the moral debate surrounding human cloning but instead opts for the low brow 'let's blow everything up and throw in some witty dialogue' approach that you'd expect from a by-the-numbers action film. ... since I'm not often confused by films, I'm going to go out on a limb here....The 6th Day" also squanders its potential with thematic heavy-handedness and a plot that leaves too much to the imagination.....He's a great tongue-in-cheek action hero and he turned out to be a great governor....a lighter tone had prevailed throughout this more preachy than provocative sci-fi thriller about human cloning..... ... Yes, the film follows a formula, but "The 6th Day" is a good sci-fi film the way "The Matrix" is a good sci-fi film. But the film is otherwise very thoroughly thought out and very smart about its pacing and plot twists. ... Full Review

Its the kind of crap you can only get away with in a Schwarzenegger movie. And while the Best Supporting Psycho In Need Of A Valium Shoved Up His Arse should go to Michael Rooker for his laughably OTT performance, its a minor quibble. ... Full Review
