Review from ./rogerebert.suntimes.com
Roadside Attractions presents a film written and directed by Mitchell Lichtenstein. Running time: 88 minutes. Rated R (for disturbing sequences involving sexuality and violence, language and some drug use). Opening today at the Music Box. By Jim Emerson. "Teeth" sinks its incisors into a cross-cultural myth known as vagina dentata. Or, as Juno might call it, "Vaggie D." Depending on who you ask (not that you should bring it up in polite intercourse), it is said to represent the male fear of castration and of feminine sexuality in general. It also symbolizes the woman's anxieties about penetration, and/or her desire to...more

Yes, it's campy, but it pays careful respect to its lead character. Jess Weixler shines as the young abstinence advocate who discovers her rare gift, receiving the much-deserved Jury Prize for Acting from the Sundance Film Festival. If you appreciate cult, camp, or horror with a feminist edge, this is for...more

Review from ./justpressplay.net
A feminist postulation gone ferociously primal, Teeth is the stuff that gives any red-blooded straight male nightmares. Its main premise doesnât just involve castration; itâs castration by a vagina. The myth of the vagina dentata (Latin for âtoothed vaginaâ) has been around far longer than this movie, typically used as a cautionary horror tale to discourage promiscuity and rape. One summer day, little Dawn (Jess Wexler) sits in a pool with her stepbrother Brad (John Hensley), playing a game of âShow me yours and Iâll show you mine.â Future bad boy Brad takes it further and slips a finger in. A...more
