Beyond Lamia, the movie suffers from a dire lack of strong, clear-cut characters, with one outrageous exception.
If Mr. De Niro's zany drag routine makes as much sense in "Stardust" as a squawking kazoo solo inserted into a Mozart string quartet, it makes movie-trivia sense if you think of it as a hip response to Johnny Depp 's fey, mascara-wearing "Pirates of the Caribbean" character, Jack Sparrow.

This is an extremely enjoyable movie, and great to watch with your kids.
There is really not all that much romance, and what there is is made up for by the great plot.

$5.00 Based on Neil Gaiman's comic book, Stardust is a supposedly feel-good romantic fairy tale, laden with 'magical' special effects and saccharine string music.....the film has none of the surreal flair....The acting, meanwhile, is competent enough..... ... Full Review

While highly derivative, and faithful to its source material in name only, "Stardust" still proves enjoyable and a pleasant enough film to watch repeatedly.
With all that said, standing on its own, "Stardust" is a highly enjoyable film for the whole family.

Overall, the extras for Stardust are paltry, particularly for a movie so full of interesting effects and ideas.
A movie based on a wonderful Neil Gaiman book and there's no commentary track by Gaiman.

STARDUST is therefore not surprisingly a fantasy classic that has a wonderful ageless feel to it.
The movie is brilliantly shot and the set decoration and locations are as gorgeous as any fantasy film has been since LORD OF THE RINGS .
