if only this were a better film.....Rodriguez succumbed to the lure of easy digital landscapes and ADD storytelling, removing the last drop of ingenuity....In a lethal family film landscape, Rodriguez's creation was a satisfying, inventive marvel, carefully balancing between CG and practical effects.... ... Few films exploit the merchandising angle as cynically as SPY KIDS 3-D: GAME OVER. The best thing I can say about SPY KIDS 3-D: GAME OVER is that it's not all in 3-D, (there are "glasses on" and "glasses off" cues) giving our eyes a chance to rest up between extended bouts with the special glasses. ... Spy Kids 3D may not be as successful as the other two films, but it's a virtual visual spectacle that offers plenty of gusto. In the company of the already established characters from the first two Spy Kids movies, Spy Kids 3D is somewhat different from the other two, in that most of the film's reality lies within the heart of the game. ... Game Over is far from the best conceived ending to the blockbuster trilogy, but in all its chaos, it is undeniably a product of Rodriguez's auteur eye. Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over isn't so much about innovating a new children's narrative structure like the first two films as it is interested in celebrating the joy of ridiculous pop-culture, loving film as film and recognizing itself as a part of this world. ... A so-so package including kid-friendly games, a mildly interesting Making Of (the best bit traces the history of 3-D, albeit briefly) and a couple of effects featurettes. The latter is a must-see for aspiring filmmakers and Michael Bay, spotlighting how the Tex-Mex helmer achieved impressive effects with a 15ft green stage and a shitload of invention. ... Full Review

All in all, the movie is great fun, and the actors seem to have fun being in it. In 2D the film is still fun to watch, now washed in vibrant video game colors. The 2D version ensures the movie a greater replay value The songs are enjoyable ... Full Review

The 3-D gimmick, if not the movie, is fun for all of maybe five minutes. Instead, this is Juni's movie, and, frankly, eleven-year-old Daryl Sabara isn't up to carrying the whole picture. The problem is that the story line is thin. ... Full Review

Unfortunately, the movie is fun for even less time.....and stop the Toymaker's fiendish plot, all within twelve hours....Good thing for the special effects, too....the 3-D effects grow wearisome within minutes..... ... Full Review
