Interesting movie. It's a movie where you dont laugh out loud for a good minute, you get some pretty good chuckles here and there. Smart plot outline but one area it kind of fails to deliver in is the comedy. I... Full review

This isn't a total rip-off of Juno, but it seems that whenever Ellen Page is on screen you can't help but be reminded of Juno. I fear that is because Ellen Page can only play one character. This time she's a... Full review

quirky characters (check) college radio ready tunes (check) master makeovers in the final act (check)......this film can't overcome its indy feel or script. It's got good performances and its amusing enough to maintain interest, but it's not special.... Full review

This was a well written feel-good movie with intelligent dialog and a good balance of dry-humor. Didn't know Ellen Page was in it (Girl from Juno). Thumbs up!... Full review

A few funny moments amidst some touching moments of a family's struggles was believeable. Some parts were a bit choppy and seemed disconnected, but then I guess that fits in well with the story. No great surprises here, no wonderfully profound... Full review

If Smart People is supposed to be smart comedy, it absolutely flunks the test. Smart People is a film about incredibly unpleasant, arrogant people, trying to deal with other unpleasant, depressing people, and somehow coming to the conclusion that maybe they all need to lighten up a little. ... In the year's most clunky movie (from scripting, directing, editing and yes, even cinematography), SMART PEOPLE hits DVD after a limited theatrical release (and deservedly so) and it's clear why people stayed away from this turkey like the bird flu. Unfortunately, the biggest problem with SMART PEOPLE is the horrible direction from Noam Murro. ... Full Review

The characters themselves are relatively well sketched, with appropriate idiosyncrasies and vernacular but in an effort to convey didactics, they are often forced to make decisions that conflict with their natural trajectory. ...
