Ramgopal Varma, the maverick filmmaker, has the courage to remake Sholay , a film that continues to be one of the favourite entertainers across the globe.....The romantic track, involving Ajay-Nisha Kothari, is a yawn.....Amit Roy's cinematography is outstanding.....The Holi track is interesting as well, more for the picturization, not as much for the tune..... ... Heard that Ramesh Sippy is not happy with your idea of remaking Sholay. That beauty comes because of the essense in the story. But my liking has nothing to do with how the film did at the box office. Mohit is apt for this role now. ... Full Review

Sholay' is easily one of the most brilliantly crafted movies. If RGV's re-remake of 'Sholay' has to replicate at least half the screen success of the original classic, he has to get rid of his penchant for casting his camp-followers in important roles and focus on getting his script and cast right. ... I'd still run back and view Ramu's revisionist 'Sholay' for the pleasure of watching Bachchan flick his tongue over his lips in a mix of menace and mischief. Let's just call 'Aag' an interesting revisionist version of 'Sholay' and be done with it. ... Full Review

Ramgopal Varma Ki Aag is actually a mockery of that timeless gem because it turns out to be everything that the original film was not - way-over-the-top, too-long-too-boring, and entirely mindless. Partners in this terrible crime of bringing this ridiculous film to screen are the film's mostly dead-as-wood actors. ... Full Review

PNC has bagged a $100-million franchisee deal to remake Sholay , which ran in movie theatres for five-and-a-half years without interruption, making it the most successful film in India's cinematic history. PNC has entered into an agreement with Sippy-owned Sholay Media and Entertainment - the original maker of Sholay - to remake the blockbuster, make an animated version of the movie and also its prequel and sequel. ... So we quickly and very wittily invented a little ditty 'We are crazy Librans (beeping) up this film!....Salim-Javed, the writers of the film, had recommended him after seeing his work on stage.....the project would perhaps be harmful for his own commercial standing.....it would bring someone out of financial trouble, knowing too well.... ...
