Bill Murry is a great actor and has been in great movies like Groundhog Day and What About Bob, but his performance really sticks out I this coming of age classic comedy. Wes Anderson is a great director and pulls out... Full review
Absurdity makes and destroys Rushmore

Rushmore is a critically acclaimed comedy but as an experienced film critic I fail to see how. Yes, it's a unique tale of a boy with far too many extra-curricular activties whom has a rivalry with a fellow teacher over a... Full review

The film in which Bill Murray began to redefine his career. Another Wes Anderson masterpiece that most American's simply can't "get." Smart, funny, caustic, wonderful.... Full review

This is one of my favorite movies. I loved the quirkiness of it. Its it ability to weave irony in to a theme of finding redemption by overcoming ones self destructive behavior was inspiring. I abounded in these great through away... Full review

Rushmore brilliantly and hilariously demonstrates that our emotions are often indistinguishable. Friendship, anger, desperation, love, loyalty, and betrayal can all manifest themselves simultaneously. We never really know what motivates us; maybe it's the hand job! A+... Full review

It's not the script so much as the actors that really makes it witty and funny. Murray is fantastic and Jason Schwartzman, who I've never seen in anything, manages to make an annoying character non-annoying, if that's possible. The story is... Full review

Seeing Rushmore all these years later, kinda reminds you of a cross between Van WIlder and the Larry David Show. Even with all the self-inflicted calamity, Rushmore is heads and shoulders above most teen comedy that hits the big screen. Bill... Full review

In retrospect, however, it's Wes Anderson's charming comedy Rushmore that was the festival's breakout film -- and arguably, a decade later, the most influential. As far as these things go, the 1998 edition of the Toronto International Film Festival had a pretty good crop of films. ... Full Review

I t was the 1998 release of Rushmore that radically altered Anderson's life. None of which is lost on Anderson himself. Anderson walks through the set making sure every detail, no matter how absurd, is just so. ... Full Review

In the end, nothing much happens in "Rushmore", Max is still up to his old tricks in the film's finale, but at least he's good at it. Director Anderson has also elicited some fine performances from his actors - perhaps most notably Bill Murray, somehow fitting perfectly into the role of the cynical self-made millionaire with one piece of advice for the youth of his alma mater: "Target the rich and take them down". ...
