Simon Pegg and Thandie Newton sympathetically portray their characters' relationship and the dialogue is well written.
The actors all put in solid performances and David Schwimmer is competent in his directorial debut.

This film felt a bit rushed and not as funny as some of Simon's previous films.
The Bonus Materials on this were okay, nothing spectacular, other than Thandie's Goof, which is a look at the trouble she had to hit her marks on this film, but with Simon, Hank and David around who could blame her.

Although "Run Fat Boy Run" offers up nothing particularly new or exciting, pretty much following formula, it does deliver affecting performances from all of its principals, particularly Simon Pegg, who seems to be able to tackle a variety of roles with equal aplomb. ... Full Review

And while this follow-up isn't as hard-hitting, the characters are so likable that viewers will likely forgive the familiar plot and subject matter.
This is a gritty story, but not a difficult one to watch, because the characters are so surprisingly normal and they're not all hellbent on looking cool.
