Rudy

This movie never fails to raise my spirits, inspire me to face another day, and remind me of the pure joy of facing one's own limitations and the possibility of overcoming seemingly insurmountable obstacles. I'm always moved to tears by the scene where his more athletically gifted teammates lay down their jerseys in Coach Devine's office and ask Rudy to take their place on the field. It's a sports movies that transcends its own genre. Jerry Goldsmith's stirring musical score resonates with the story and can elevate the soul on its own. The right actors have been chosen, especially Sean Astin in the lead role as Rudy. I watched it again tonight and my spirit was renewed once again.
