I can't truthfully say that this whole film is comic genius, but I can say it about the barroom scene, where Martin gives the 20 jokes about the size of his nose. Great stuff!... Full review

Steve Martin stars in a hilarious film. His acting could be a little bit more convincing, but it was the starting of his carrier. I personaly think he could have added a few more facial expressions to express how hard it... Full review

Roxanne likes how Chris looks....One thing which also struck me is the lack of evil characters.....This is a nice film.....Daryl Hannah is pretty, Steve Martin is pretty funny, Rick Rossovich is pretty vacant, and overall the film is pretty good.....loved it because of all of the slapstick comedy..... ... Roxanne" is a sweet, entertaining version of Edmond Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac , the French play that enjoyed one of the longest runs on Broadway.....That's because of the considerable charms of Daryl Hannah (whose nude backside is shown again, ala "Splash") and the comic one-liners and monologues.... ... This modern take on Cyrano de Bergerac finds C.D. Bales (Martin), a local firefighter with a nose for poetry, as well as beautiful astronomer Roxanne (Daryl Hannah).....There's virtually nothing going on in the surrounds here, except for the occasional dated sounds of Bruce Smeaton's score.....Any Steve Martin fan will consider Roxanne a highlight in the comedian's career.....While the movie holds up pretty well, this 2.40:1 transfer does not..... ... Roxanne" is the most unabashed, and most satisfying, romantic movie to come along in years. As Roxanne, Daryl Hannah is the perfect object of his affections, the silent-comedy dream girl. Martin's C.D. is a natural romantic; poetry flows out of him. ... Full Review

Back in the late '70s, when "disco sucked" (even when sometimes it didn't) and punk emerged, yowling from fanciful regions of Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren's mind, you knew there had to be a "dressed-up" version of the new tunesmithing. ... Full Article
