Russell Crowe is perfect but he always is so there were no surprise there, the rest of the acting is average at best. This movie disappointed me, I thought it would be better -- it is not bad but it's close... Full review

In Romper Stomper, it is easy to see the shine starting on Russell Crowe's star. His tremendous intensity and skill is on fine display in this early outing. The movie on the other hand, exploits the mindless violence to a point... Full review

Firstly, I'd like to start by saying that anyone who thinks this is somehow pro-racist or pro-skinhead has REALLY missed the point, thats if they've even seen it,that is. That would be like saying 'Saving Private Ryan' glorifies war, or... Full review

Skinheads—love 'em or loathe 'em, you can't ignore them; and if you tried, they would kick your head in! Russell Crowe gives a bravura performance as Nazi-loving Hando, leader of a gang of racist thugs hell-bent on giving a good... Full review

A solid job by Crowe in an early film for him. Just showing that he was a very good actor back in 1993. The movie is dark and shows youth gangs in another country. It's all over the place. Good movie.... Full review

Romper Stomper begins as a docudrama about Australian skinheads and their horrific exploits. Throughout these fights, however, Romper Stomper increasingly emphasizes the building relationship between Hando and Gabrielle, played by Jacqueline McKenzie, a young runaway with a somewhat mysterious past. ... Wright is clearly a terrific filmmaker; the look, the pace, the zippy editing are all remarkably efficient. The gang, led by the coldly charismatic Hando (Russell Crowe), is obsessed with Southeast Asian immigrants, who have taken over sections of Melbourne and are gobbling up businesses, including the gang's home bar. ... Geoffrey Wright's "Romper Stomper," a story about neo-Nazis -- with as sympathetic a portrayal as possible without actually extolling Nazi values -- has a unique and intriguing agenda. But the movie is neither the brilliant work its maker wanted it to be, nor is it the countercultural, hate-mongering menace its NC-17 rating implies. ... Full Review

Although this movie is about neo Nazi Skinheads and that the soundtrack is racist, this movie is actually good. Anyway, to make a good movie, you have to use your ideas to the fullest potential. ... Full Review

For evidence, watch as Hando leads his gang in a vicious attack on Vietnamese immigrants, the cue for writer/director Geoffrey Wright to deliver a gruelling but brilliantly choreographed fight-cum-chase scene. This duly arrives when Hando goes on the run with best mate Davey (Daniel Pollock) and slumming rich girl Gabe (Jacqueline McKenzie). ... Full Review
