Rocky III is more interested in being an entertaining popcorn flick than an inspirational drama, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
The moment Rocky III kicks off with the powerful strains of Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger," which is played over a montage of Rocky's rise to fame, it's obvious the film has a different agenda.

Ultimately, Rocky III is best left to the series' completists.
The picture of Rocky III suffered from a variety of other flaws that rendered it only a little above average.
As Rocky III begins, we see how Rocky (Stallone) deals with the good life.

The first Rocky it seemed to me at the time was nothing compared to the action and thrills of Rocky III .....The film seems committed to the character of Rocky Balboa in spite of limited technique, lowered audience expectations and little chance of any future sequel revenue.....I liked Rocky III so much, I rented the original Rocky on that dinosaur format, VHS....The film is full of flaws, from underdeveloped relationships with both Marie and Robert, to occasional heavy handedness in accenting it's themes.. ...
