I really tried hard to enjoy this movie, but when you have to work that hard, the magic is gone. The main character, Hal Hefner, is unfortunately not likable. Much like the movie, he stutters - almost to make the movie... Full review
Smart Dialog, Sharp Performances

This has to be the best dialog in any film ever made with a stutterer as a central character. I found the performances letter-perfect; not a false note anywhere. This is a movie where even the bit parts are played by... Full review

Rocket Science is not a trite, coming-of-age story about a stuttering, horny teenage kid. The characters were well-developed and I loved the narration--it was poetic yet humorous.... Full review

One of last years best scripts and a breakout performance from the natural Reece Thompson ensures Rocket Science is up on 2007's biggest sleepers list. Unlike the overrated Juno, Jeffrey Blitz's stimulating screenplay hardly ever rings hollow, despite the fact... Full review

The entire time I was watching rocket science, I was gob smacked by the performances of the entire cast, but in particular Anna Kendrick and Nicholas D'Agosto. Their performances were unlike anything I've seen in years!!! I think it's difficult... Full review

Rocket Science is essentially a movie about a boy who discovers his worth and abilities throughout his furious campaign for his dreams. The film's mood pushes the limit of tongue- in-cheek, and it is certainly felt as a comedy because... Full review

It's mostly corny, sometimes effective, and infinitely more interesting than the film's lapses into teen-boy clichés (see especially, the revelation in drunkenness).....Hal's stuttering makes his dialogue occasionally tense and the film's rhythms strangely enchanting..... ... Full Review

The movie is written and directed by Jeffrey Blitz, who previously directed the magnificent documentary "Spellbound.....Those more forgiving of such quirky projects should definitely Rent It to experience a fine cast at work.....It's a great performance creating a great character....The soundtrack sparkles in its Dolby 5.1 presentation, which makes the most out of the music-heavy track..... ... In short, Rocket Science is an enjoyable comedy drama with superb performances and a terrific script and its avoidance of clichs is commendable if not entirely successful. Words are clearly of great importance to Blitz and his superb script crackles with excellent dialogue, delivered in brilliantly deadpan fashion by a terrific supporting cast. ... Full Review

Maybe because the material is so personal, or maybe because he just has a great ear, writer-director Blitz never condescends to his characters in the manner of "Napoleon Dynamite" or "Eagle vs. Shark," two independent comedies to which "Rocket Science" has been compared. ... Full Review
