The film's at its most effective when it's examining faith in politics....Religulous has several hilarious highlights, most notably an interview with the employee who plays Jesus at Florida's mind-boggling Holy Land Experience theme park.....Religulous is an extremely entertaining documentary that delivers plenty of laughs.... ... It's a nasty, condescending, small-minded film, self-amused and ultimately self-defeating.
You don't need to believe in God to take issue with Bill Maher's " Religulous ," a quasi-documentary that mocks religion as ridiculous, crazy, even dangerous.

I have been a fan of Bill Maher ever since his show Politically Incorrect was on ABC, and I dutifully watch his HBO program Real Time every Friday night, as it usually features spot-on commentary mixed with abrasive comedy, as Maher ridicules prominent political figures, and religious people. ... Screenrant makes a good point when they say that their research online prior to the films' release indicated that Religulous would do better, and that:
Christians did well at getting the news about Fireproof out by word of mouth, and Fireproof did beat Religulous soundly at the box office, though we have yet to see how the two films fare in DVD sales.
