It was a great film that kept me in suspense from start to finish.
Great story, acting and the works.
Edward Norton is definitely an excellent actor.
The acting is top-notch.
Hopkins' humor is so subtle, yet hilarious at the same time.

Superior imo to Manhunter , which is still bloody good (we had a debate about these two on the old site), I thoroughly enjoy Red Dragon and find it a tense, well paced thriller with a psychological edge.
featuring a great ensemble cast *Norton, Keitel, Hopkins, Fiennes, Watson, Hoffman, Parker, Leung, Duke* all bringing something to the party, with Ed and especially Ralph outstanding.

No problem when you're faced with an unblinking Hopkins
Naturally, this gives Hopkins the chance to chew on some get-cute dialogue (he describes the unctious Dr Chilton's shrink techniques as "fumbling at your head like a freshman pulling at a panty girdle").

Though much of the flick looked excellent, a mix of flaws detracted from the experience.
He tends to ruin his movies with idiotic comedy, flashy segments and silly tangents, factors that would become very out of place in this kind of movie.

The film sounded pretty good on standard definition detail and finds a decent upgrade with the higher bitrates possible with HD-DVD.
I wouldn´t go as far as to state that this is a top-tier title, but "Red Dragon" is a very nice looking HD-DVD disc.

If "Red Dragon" had actually been made and released prior to the superior and definitive "Silence of the Lambs," it might have been a chilling serial killer thriller.
There is some tension for a while as Lecter plays on Graham's fear of getting too close to another vicious killer, but that character thread is dropped fairly quickly and before long Graham is right back in the game and "Dragon" becomes an average cat-and-mouse hunt.

Red Dragon is a solid thriller and well worth seeing on the big screen.
This is another excellent story by Thomas Harris.
You'll enjoy this movie regardless of whether you've seen any of the other movies in the series or not.

Red Dragon" is a grisly, amped-up thriller that doesn't challenge or dignify their talent, but it obviously has the potential to expand their profile and boost their asking price.
The actors get a good workout, and Hopkins earns his enormous paycheck, but at day's end it all looks like a revved-up, market-driven rehash of a once-thrilling film.

There is one key scene that is classic Norton, but anyone else could have done the rest and could have made that once scene much more of the surprise it was likely supposed to be.
Unlike the ill-fated "Hannibal," the role that Sir Hopkins made famous has been once again given the back seat to the main story, exactly as in "Silence of the Lambs.

But while the film, a prequel to the 1991 classic, works as a competent thriller, it is proof that Hollywood's most famous cannibal should stay locked up from now on.
The Tooth Fairy, alias Francis Dolarhyde, is the most impressive character Where this film differs from the original hit movie is in the twisted but somewhat sympathetic depiction of the Tooth Fairy, alias Francis Dolarhyde, impressively portrayed by Fiennes.
