When old classic songs are remixed, more often than not, the new version lacks the essence of the original. Giving a brief about the storyline is pointless, as everyone is more than aware about the storyline of 'Sholay'. The director mostly remains true to the original. In Ramu's version though, the film is set in a place called Kaliganj, which is apparently somewhere by the Mumbai shoreline. The first half is watchable, but the second half seems to go on and on and is definitely a cure for insomnia. By setting the story in a dingy fishing colony, the visual...more

RGV Ki Aags story and concept has no doubt been adapted from the classic Sholay, nonetheless the film comes as below average as the screenplay is tacky and loud, the characters resemble over the top caricatures and finally the execution is plain and holds nothing extraordinary. The modern day setting of a village with no law and order system in the midst of Mumbai seems implausible and strange. Locations and costumes are in poor taste. Dialogues too remain poor substitutes for the original ones. Performances are not able to replace the earlier characters mark nor are they able to impress...more

In the dark underbelly of Mumbai City a nihilistic new leader has risen to rule the field underworld. His name is Babban. Cruel beyond imagination, psychotically violent and far more devious than any gangster the city has ever known. Nobody has ever seen him and if they did, they didn’t survive to tell the tale. But one man believed in his existence. My Review of AAG - Its Burning Hot !!! A remake of Sholay ? Sort of A Xerox Copy of Sholay ? Not at all An Adaptation with another visionaries perspective ? - Yes that is what it is....more

Bole To: Don't play with fire! STORY: Have you seen SHOLAY? OK, then change Gabbar To Baban, Thakur to Narsimha, Basanti to Ghungroo and so on. Take all the fun, popularity, memorable dialogues etc. out of SHOLAY. REVIEW: To say that the movie is stupid, would be an understatement. Bachchan shines in his role as the new Gabbar and that's the only redeeming factor in this otherwise insipid movie. Ramu's vision/homage/remake of SHOLAY falls flat right from the first scene. The worst part of it, is the Ajay Devgan-Nisha Kothari story which is a complete opposite of the charming play of...more
