A Southern Fried Comedic Tragedy
Oct 01, 2007
arichmondfwc - imdb.com
A thinly disguised couple, one of the most famous couple of the last decade. They carry the "come as you are" kind of attitude, apparently, so, yes, at least apparently. Looking at it from where I'm standing in 2007 she... Full review

A political drama parodying the Clinton Administration. The strong point of the film is the acting. They are working with a great script however. I never had a feeling the characters were doing anything because the script told them to. Above... Full review

This movie reeks of crappy Hollywood pontificating. I mean, really... The War Room is much better if you are actually interested in this campaign. This is like comparing a high school production of romeo and juliet with reading the actual shakespeare... Full review

Witty political comedy about the Clinton-like rise of an unknown Southern governor (Travolta) to the presidency, with the help of his wife (Thompson) and campaign staff. Told from the perspective of a young staffer (Lester), it highlights both the governor’s love... Full review

Vinnie for President!

Vinnie Barbarino, AKA John Travolta, fakes a REALLY bad southern accent and portrays a sleazy, womanizing, amoral Bill Clinton clone running for president. If you can get past the terrible acting and watered down script, it's actually a bit cute.... Full review

John Travolta's dead-on, as a disguised Young Bill Clinton running for President. His impersonation alone is well worth seeing. This is a funny movie, yet an truthful side of politics in America... Full review

And though there's plenty of good acting in Primary Colors -from Lester, from Maura Tierney as a campaign worker After a stroke forces Stanton's main competition out of the race, he finds himself facing even stiffer competition from Fred Picker (Larry Hagman, in a superb pro's performance), the old political hand who steps in. ... Primary Colors isn't nearly as real a deal as the 1993 documentary The War Room; ultimately, it's mighty inconsequential, a series of wry skits on themes of appetites and campaign fever. After a week in which no less establishment a publication than The New York Times printed excerpts from a legal deposition in which the President of the United States of America was interrogated, under oath, as to whether he ever asked a certain woman to kiss his penis, Primary Colors is just what this country needs: two-p ... Like "Wag the Dog," "Primary Colors" is a political satire striving to be so realistic that it almost seems ripped from today's headlines. Primary Colors" is rated R for profanity, vulgar jokes and references, violent slapping, racial epithets and brief, partial female nudity. ... Full Review
